Sign in with your identity.
Your identity connects you to your contributions. Your device protects its private key with your chosen passkey or passphrase. Clio never receives your private key or recovery phrase.
Sign in to create, recover or unlock your identity. Signing into a linked account alone cannot replace a lost identity.
Evidence history
Your work keeps its history.
Published versions connect your contribution to your identity. Clio records what it accepted, and corrections create new versions so earlier evidence can still be understood.
A signed record does not prove an identification is correct. Publication, review and DOI status are shown separately.
Custody and recovery
Keep more than one safe way back in.
Save both your recovery phrase and encrypted recovery kit. Keep them separate and never share them. Together they can restore the same identity on a new device. Test recovery or pair another supported device before you lose access to the original.
If you lose every usable device and the recovery material, Clio cannot restore your identity. Creating a new identity does not restore access to contributions made with the old one.

Account security
Sign-in activity and privacy.
Clio records sign-in outcomes and, when available, your IP address, approximate country or region, and browser and operating system. Authorised administrators use these details to investigate access problems and protect accounts. They are not public.
These security details are available for 30 days and removed during subsequent activity. Your private key, passphrase and recovery material are never included. For questions about account information, contact [email protected].
